Here are some tips to help you plan a perfect seaside wedding.
A Seaside Wedding: Where to get Married
There are many wonderful wedding venues in Cornwall. Here are three of our local seaside wedding favourites all within 10 minutes’ drive of Blue Monkey.
The Rame Peninsula is a great choice for a wedding. Surrounded by beautiful views of the coast, Polhawn Fort is one of many fabulous local wedding venues. Within it’s peaceful grounds, Polhawn offers many different packages including bouncy castles and alternative ceremonies.
For a truly rustic feel, check out The Cowshed at Freathy Farmhouse with a capacity for 80 guests. The Cowshed offers an intimate and relaxed style of wedding, set between rolling hills and minutes from the coast. A wonderful venue for a romantic seaside wedding!
Bordered on 3 sides by beaches and coastline, The Orangery offers a stunning seaside wedding package. A unique reception venue, the Orangery can accommodate up to 200 guests. You can create your own package, suitable to your budget.
The hire fee for the Orangery is £2,400 plus vat and then you simply add your food and drink options on top. There are no other charges whatsoever and they have everything you need for your day including table linens, lighting and wireless sound system so you can create your very own playlists.
The Service: Where to tie the knot
If you decide to get married in church, the local parish of Maker with Rame has 3 to choose from:
Maker Church. This church has a real Cornish name! It means a stone wall or a ruin. However, the church of St Mary and St Julian is no ruin. It stands high on the Rame peninsula, close to St Julian’s holy well and you can see the tower from the Tamar River below.
Rame. A very pretty church on the peninsula, only six minutes drive or 25 minutes walk from Blue Monkey. The name means ‘the high protruding cliff, the ram’s head’, from which the hamlet and parish take their name. A seaside wedding should always have a view of the sea!
St Andrew’s in Cawsand is also known as a Chapel of Ease. A sweet and friendly church in Cawsand village, within walking distance of Blue Monkey. The vicar is very friendly and welcoming and delighted when people choose his church to tie the knot in!
How about the Beach?
If you would like a real seaside wedding, Polhawn Fort can offer a private beach wedding for 120 guests. What could be more magical?
