A family friendly days out in Cornwall are not hard to find, as there is so much fun to be had in Cornwall for all ages. We’ve decided to outlined 3 places close to Blue Monkey in Kingsand that will guarantee to entertain the whole family no matter their age.
WALKING DISTANCE FROM BLUE MONKEY
For those with families with young children Kingsand beach and Cawsand beach (is 2 minutes down the road). Both are sandy beaches with all the usual facilities at the back of the beach. We (and our guests) particularly love it for families because of the rock pools and inlets for children to play with shrimp nets. Cawsand has a sheltered location making it a popular beach with families. Parents with older children can relax at the Devonport Inn with babies in prams, whilst keeping an eye on the beach.
Top Tip: Your dog is also welcome on Kingsand beach all year round, but they are banned from Cawsand beach from Easter until 1st October.
A FERRY RIDE AWAY
The Cawsand Ferry will take you from Cawsand Beach to the Barbican Landing Stage at Plymouth in half an hour. From there you and your family can take a short stroll (12mins) around the North Quay to the National Marine Acquarium, Rope Walk, Coxside, Plymouth PL4 0LF – which is a great option for the family on a rainy day.
Top Tip: The NMA runs many exciting events for children which you can check out here.
30 MINUTES DRIVE FROM KINGSAND
30 minutes drive from Kingsand will take you to the pretty harbour at Looe. There are boats to admire in the harbour, and a sandy Beach close to the town centre so it is easy for you to wander through the streets and find your way to one of the many cafes and restaurants. You can take a trip to Looe Island, visit the Monkey Sanctuary or take a journey on the Looe Valley Railway.
Top Tip: The Old Mill house in Polperro close by is a dog friendly pub with a garden to sit in on a sunny day.
